Of course, you can play without the Battle Pass, but I think it makes the game a lot more fun and it's pretty affordable, all things considered. It adds a fun layer of play that goes beyond just playing to win and you end up with a few new skins each season, plus new emotes, sprays and so forth. You unlock these cosmetics by playing, leveling up and completing weekly challenges. The Battle Pass costs $10 and gives player access to 100 Tiers of cosmetic rewards.
